Prayer in this petition is for directing respondents No.2 to 4 to safeguard the lives of the petitioners by providing police protection to the petitioners and further directing respondents No.3 & 4 not to interfere and not let respondents No.5 to 7 or anybody else to interfere in the life and liberty of the petitioners or harass them in any manner against their wishes and to their detriment by using force on them or by adopting unlawful means, after their marriage performed against the wishes of respondents No.5 to 7. 2. Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that both the petitioners are major and have married against the wishes of respondents No.5 to 7 and have sought protection to their life and liberty. They apprehend danger from respondents No.5 to 7. Their photographs and marriage certificate evidencing their marriage is on record as Annexures P-5 & P-6. Learned counsel for the petitioners states that petitioners have POOJA SHARMA 2025.06.06 16:33 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document CRWP-6045-2025 -2- filed representation dated 04.06.2025 (Annexure P-7) before respondent No.2 i.e. Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar. 3. Notice of motion to respondents No.1 to 4. 4. On asking of the Court, Mr. Karunesh Kaushal, A.A.G., Punjab, notice on behalf of the respondents-State. 5. Without entering upon an exercise to evaluate the evidentiary value of the documents placed on the file, I dispose of the petition with a direction to respondent No.2- Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar, to decide the representation dated 04.06.2025 (Annexure P-7) of the petitioners and grant them protection, if any threat to their life and liberty is perceived. It is clarified that this order shall not be taken to grant immunity to the petitioners from legal action for violation of law, if any, committed by them. This order would not be understood having expressed any opinion whatsoever by this Court on the validity of the marriage of the petitioners. 6. Disposed of.
