Heard S/Sri Shashi Prakash Rai and Shrinath, learned counsel for petitioners and Sri Anshuman Singh, learned counsel for respondent No.5. The petitioners before this Court are Professors at different colleges affiliated to different Universities. Both petitioners on basis of their service, applied for Shikshak Shree Award, however, unfortunately, their names were not forwarded and meanwhile they have crossed age of 62 years. Learned counsel for petitioners has attributed malafidies though he fairly submits that now its benefit cannot be extended. In aforesaid circumstances, the Court is of the view that at this stage, to issue a mandamus or direction that petitioners may be considered for Shikshak Shree Award would be a futile exercise. It is necessary to observe here that only to a ground that petitioners were not considered for Shikshak Shree Award does not mean that they have not worked diligently and honestly. Such award is only for encouragement of other teachers and professors working in the institution or colleges so that they may complete their duties diligently. A very old saying is that " हहार जजीत ससे अधधिक प्रततस्पधिहार्धा मम भहाग लसेनहा हहै।" Therefore, the relief sought by petitioners cannot be granted at this stage, however, it does not mean that petitioners have not worked diligently.
