Ramaraj For Respondents: Mr.R.Ganesh Kumar Counsel for Government of Tamil Nadu (Criminal Side) for R2 ORDER This Writ Petition (Criminal) has been filed seeking a direction to the second respondent to issue a No Objection Certificate with respect to the renewal of the petitioner's passport bearing Passport No.L9770227, by considering his representation dated 07.05.2025. 2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Counsel for Government of Tamil Nadu (Criminal Side) appearing for the second respondent. Perused the materials available on record. 3. The petitioner obtained a passport and applied for renewal of his passport. On receipt of the said application, the first respondent sought a verification report from the second respondent. On verification, the second respondent found that the petitioner was involved in a criminal case registered in Crime No.60 of 2022 for the offences under Sections 170, 419 & 420 of IPC and the same is pending for investigation. Therefore, the question of issuance of a No Objection Certificate by the second respondent does not arise. 4. In view of the above facts, the prayer sought for in this petition cannot be considered. Thus, the writ petition lacks merit and is liable to be dismissed. Accordingly, this Writ Petition (Criminal) stands dismissed. However, the petitioner is at liberty to approach the first respondent for renewal of his passport in accordance with law.
