3. The petitioner is the sister of the deceased. The petitioner's brother was murdered by the accused, pursuant to which an FIR was registered in Crime No.328 of 2012. Therefore, the deceased's family was granted compensation under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Rules 1995, to the tune of Rs.2,50,000/-. Accordingly, the petitioner’s father was paid a sum of Rs.1,87,500/- on 20.12.2012 towards 75%. That apart, the petitioner’s mother was assigned land to an extent of 0.81.0 hectares in Survey No.8/4 of Dhurinjikollai Village, Chidambaram Taluk, Cuddalore District by an assignment order dated 22.01.2013. However, not being satisfied with the same, the deceased’s family made further representation and a Peace Committee Meeting was convened, wherein the petitioner’s family was assured to consider their case for Government Employment and also assessment of some land. As per the assurance, the petitioner’s family was assigned with some land. 4. Insofar as the government employment is concerned, the Rules does not provide to grant any employment to the deceased's family. Further, the petitioner, being the sister of the deceased, has sought enhancement compensation as per the Amended Rule 12(4) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Rules 1995, which came into effect on 14.04.2016.
