Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that petitioners were in love since last 8 years and ultimately they decided to get married. Annexure- 2 to the writ petition is certificate of marriage, issued by Thora Arya Samaj Mandir, Tehsil, Jewar, Gaudam Buddh Nagar. 4. Learned State Counsel submits that in terms of provision contained in Uttarakhand Civil Code, petitioners would be required to get their marriage registered. Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that petitioners have applied for registration of their marriage under UCC. 5. Petitioners are present in Court duly identified by their counsel Mr. Prem Kaushal, Advocate. Petitioner No. 2 stated that after passing B.B.A., he was appointed as executive in a private finance company at Kashipur. Petitioner No. 1, who is also present, stated that she possesses B.Sc qualification from M.J.P. College, 2025:UHC:4157-DB Bareilly. Both of them stated that there is serious threat to their life because of their inter religion marriage, therefore, they be given protection. 6. Learned State Counsel submits that as per document enclosed with the writ petition, both the petitioners are major. He further submits that since both the petitioners have voluntarily decided to live together as husband and wife, therefore, they are entitled for protection in view of the law laid down by Hon’ble Supreme Court in the case of Lata Singh Vs. State of U.P. and Another; 2006 (5) SCC 475. 7. Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of directing the Station House Officer, Police Station Kotwali Bazpur, District Udham Singh Nagar to provide protection to petitioners for a period of 10 weeks to ensure that no harm is caused to them by private respondents or any other person acting at their behest. Upon expiry of 10 weeks, the SHO concerned shall make fresh assessment of threat perception of petitioners and take such steps, as are felt necessary. 8.
