This is yet another case of agriculturists, who have not been paid compensation for 20 years. The possession of land of petitioners was taken on 01.02.2004. Private negotiations were carried out. Percolation tank was constructed. Contractors are also paid their bills. After about more than 15 years, respondent No.4 submitted a proposal for acquisition to the Collector. On 16.02.2024, the final award is delivered. Despite the final award, the District Collector failed to deposit the amount of compensation. 2025:BHC-AUG:34090-DB 2 949_WP_14398_2025 2 In view of there being no dispute as regards the sequence of events narrated above, this writ petition is allowed. 3 The learned Advocate for petitioners empathetically canvasses that the present Government has lot of funds available and therefore, the payment should be made only within 15 days. The District Collector, Beed, shall ensure that the compensation to these petitioners in terms of Award and statutory interest as is payable under Section 80 of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, shall be paid to them, within two months.
