The present petition has been filed praying for the following relief:- "I. Issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of mandamus and direct the respondent no. 2/Chief Municipal Officer, Municipal Corporation, District- Kanpur Nagar to make allotment of a plot under current scheme against the deposit of Rs. 500/- vide Receipt No. 95 Book No. 633 dated 05/07/1961, otherwise the petitioner shall suffer irreparable loss and injury." The plot of the petitioner was cancelled through a letter dated 01.01.1967 which the petitioner claims was served on him on 06.08.1968. It has been more than 55 years since the proceedings regarding allotment have been closed. The petition is barred by serious latches and it is not a case to take cognizance under Article 226 of the Constitution of India. The petition is dismissed.
