This matter is taken up through hybrid mode. 2. Petitioner in this writ petition prays for a direction to Collector, Cuttack-Opposite Party No-2 to call for the records in KLC No.1650 of 2008 and settle the land in question in favour of the Petitioner under the provisions of the Odisha Government Land Settlement Act, 1962 and Rules framed thereunder. 2.1 Taking into consideration the grievance of the Petitioner, this Court passed several orders requiring the State Counsel to take instruction with regard to status of KLC No.1650 of 2008. The matter was lastly listed on 18th March, 2026 on which date, learned State Counsel on instruction from the Tahasildar Sadar, Cuttack vide Letter No.3260/Judicial dated 24th February, 2026 submitted that vide order dated 16th February, 2026 the Tahasildar, Sadar Cuttack submitted the record in KLC No.1650 of 2008 before the Sub-Collector, Sadar, Cuttack for necessary approval and onward transmission to the Collector, Cuttack for orders. Today, i.e., on 12th May, 2026, Mr. Mishra, learned Digitally Signed Signed by: SASHIKANT PARIDA Reason: Authentication Location: OHC Date: 13-May-2026 10:27:55 Signature Not Verified p. 2 Additional Standing Counsel on instruction submit that the case record in KLC No.1650 of 2008 is at present pending before the Collector, Cuttack since 23rd February, 2026. 3. Mr. Nayak, learned counsel for the Petitioner, therefore, submits that a direction may be issued to the Collector, Cuttack to take a decision in the KLC No.1650 of 2008 for necessary approval and direction to prepare the record in the name of the Petitioner. 4. In view of such submission, this Court feels that awaiting the decision taken by the Collector, Cuttack, keeping the writ petition pending before this Court will serve no purpose. Hence, it is directed that the Collector, Cuttack shall take a decision in KLC No.1650 of 2008 and communicate the outcome thereof to the Petitioner as expeditiously as possible, preferably by end of July, 2026. 5. The Collector, Cuttack shall act upon production of certified copy of this order, which Mr. Nayak, learned counsel for the Petitioner undertakes to produce within a period of seven days hence.
