Tarunkumar, learned senior counsel, assisted by Mr. Rustam, learned counsel, appears for the appellants/applicants; and Mr. Kh. Samarjit, learned DSGI, assisted by Mr. Nongdamba Naorem, learned counsel, appears for the respondents. [2] The present writ appeals have been filed praying as follows: “allow the writ appeal in full by quashing/setting aside the impugned order dt. 24.01.2025 (Annexure-E) and allow the appellants to continue in their respective posts/service till the disposal of the W.P. (C) No. 870 of 2024, W.P. (C) No. 697 of 2024 and W.P. (C) No. 568 of 2024 to meet the ends of justice.” [3] According to the learned senior counsel appearing for the appellants, they are all working on contractual Assistant Professors and faculty members in the NIT, Manipur. They have filed W.P. (C) No. 870 of 2024 challenging the advertisement dated 13.12.2024 for recruitment of Assistant Professors (Level-10). Page 2 According to them, they are all eligible for applying to the aforesaid of Assistant Professor (Level-10). Therefore, they have filed writ petitions before this Court with the prayer as sought in the main writ petitions. The appellants also filed miscellaneous applications seeking for interim relief. [4] Aggrieved by the impugned order dated 24.01.2025 passed by the learned Single Judge in the aforesaid writ petitions, the writ petitioners have filed the present writ appeals. [5] Mr. Kh. Samarjit, learned DSGI, appearing for the respondents, on instructions, states that arguments on both sides have been concluded in W.P. (C) No. 870 of 2024 and in so far as other writ petitions are concerned, they are pending before the writ court and learned Single Judge directed the writ petitions to be heard along with W.P. (C) No. 174 of 2025, wherein the petitioners have challenged the result of the selection process. Learned DSGI, further informed this Court that pursuant to the said advertisement, the recruitment process was completed and out of the 13 posts, 11 posts have already been filled up and only two posts are vacant under the category of EWS and ST and they are in the process of filling up the said vacancies as per the rules. [6] At this juncture, learned DSGI states that the relief sought for by the appellants for granting interim relief cannot be considered and he further states that writ petitions may be taken up for final hearing and decided on merits, and if petitioners succeeds in the writ petitions, appropriate relief may be granted to the petitioners. Page 3 [7] In view of the above submission made by the learned DSGI that only two posts of Assistant Professor (Level-10) are vacant under the category of EWS and ST, this Court is not inclined to grant any relief in the present appeals, however, it is made clear that if any appointment order has been issued in favour of any candidate, the same the shall be subject to the result of the writ petitions. [8] In the circumstances, we request the learned Single Judge to dispose of the writ petitions as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. [9] With the above observation, the present appeals and the miscellaneous applications are disposed of. [10] If there is vacancy in the post of Assistant Professor (Level-10), the appellants are at liberty to submit representation, if any, to the authority and it is for the authority to consider the same.
