By means of this petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution petitioner has challenged the order of punishment dated 30.04.2025 passed by the disciplinary authority. 3. Learned Standing Counsel submits that the petitioner has an alternative efficacious remedy of statutory under the U.P. Police Officers of Subordinate Rank (Punishment and Appeal) Rules, 1991 and he should avail the same first. 4. Learned counsel for petitioner could not dispute the above legal position. 5. In view of the above I decline to grant indulgence in the matter of punishment order at this stage. However this petition stands disposed of with the direction to the petitioner to prefer statutory appeal before the appellate authority within a period of six weeks from today and if he does so the statutory appeal shall be decided as expeditiously as possible within a further period of two months following the procedure prescribed for under the relevant rules.
