Present Writ Petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India with the following prayers:- “(i) To issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents to include the name of the petitioners in voter list/electoral roll. (ii) To issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of Mandamus commanding the respondents to permit the petitioner no. 4 to participate in upcoming election as a ward member from Ward No. 05 of Nagar Nigam Srinagar, which is schedule to be held on 23.01.2025. 1 2025:UHC:464 (iii) Issue any suitable order or direction as this Hon'ble Court may deem fit and proper in the circumstance of the case. (iv) To Award the cost of the writ petition to the petitioners.” 2. Heard Mr. A.M. Saklani, learned counsel for petitioner, Mr. Suyash Pant, learned Standing Counsel for respondent nos.1 & 3 and Mr. Prem Prakash Bhatt, learned counsel holding brief of Mr. Sanjay Bhatt, learned counsel for respondent no.2. 3. Mr. A.M. Saklani, Advocate, has submitted that an application dated 27.12.2024 was moved by the petitioner no.1 to the Secretary, State Election Commission, Dehradun. The Secretary, State Election Commission, Dehradun wrote a letter to the respondent no.3 to enquire into the matter. The respondent no.3 enquired the matters and recommended for inclusion the names of the petitioners in voter list vide letter dated 29.12.2024. The said letter is still pending before the respondent no.2. 4. Mr. Prem Prakash Bhatt, Advocate, has requested ten days’ time to decide the said letter dated 27.12.2024. 5. With the consent of both the parties, the present writ petition (M/S No.12 of 2025) is disposed of 2 2025:UHC:464 directing the respondent no.2 to decide the said letter dated 27.12.2024 as per law as expeditiously as possible but not later than ten days’ from the date of production of the certified copy of this order. 6.
