This writ petition is disposed of at the very inception stage by directing the Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Budgam to decide and dispose of a pending application of the petitioner vide which the petitioner is seeking re-registration in the UT of J & K of his vehicle No. HR26BX5397 (BMW 520D). 2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the re-registration of the said vehicle of the petitioner which has been sought by reference to section 47 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 is being held up contrary to the mandate of the judgment of the Division Bench of this Court passed in WP (C ) No. 669/2021 connected with WP (C ) No. 777/2021 and also the judgment of the Single Bench in WP( C) No. 3117/2023 in terms whereof the position of law has been settled with respect to re-registration of vehicles in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir which otherwise are having original registration assigned outside Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in some other State/Union Territory. 3. The Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Budgam is reminded about the fact that as being a public officer he is supposed to deliver efficient service in favour of the citizens of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir by staying fully cognizant of position of law on the subject matter issue which is so pending his decision for disposal of a case. 4. Needful compliance to be done by the Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Budgam within a period of fifteen days from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order. 5. Disposed of.
