Nag Mr. Debopriyo Karan … for the State. 1. The affidavit-of-service filed by the petitioner is taken on record. 2. The matter is listed today as “Urgent Motion” in the supplementary list. The petitioner has filed the present writ application challenging the order passed by the Sub- Divisional Officer, Kakdwip, District – South 24 Paraganas dated December 23, 2025 in compliance with the order passed by this Court on December 23, 2025. 3. In the said order the Sub-Divisional Officer has refused to grant permission to the petitioner for holding public meeting. When the matter is called, Mr. Kalyan Bandopadhyay, learned senior advocate appearing for the State in his usual fairness suggests before this Court that the petitioner may be allowed to conduct the meeting from 1.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. at Sagar Rudranagar Chowrangi, Mouza – Rudranagar, Dag No. 4277, Khatian No. 1993, Police Station – Sagar, District – South 24 Parganas with the gathering of 2 approximately 7000 people with 50 microphones and 5 speakers. 4. Considering the submission made by the learned senior counsel appearing for the State, the writ petition is disposed of by directing the authority to allow the petitioner to conduct the public meeting on 24.12.2025 from 1.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. at the above mentioned address with the gathering of 7000 people (approximately) with 50 microphones and 5 speakers. 5. The petitioner is directed that while conducting the meeting to maintain the law and order and shall not violate law and order in the said place. The State authorities are also directed to keep vigilance of the meeting of the petitioner so that the law and order situation cannot be violated. 6. As the learned senior counsel of the State has given suggestion and on the suggestion, this Court allows the writ application, this Court has not gone into the merit of the order passed by the Sub-Divisional Officer and the order will not be given effect to. This Court has disposed of the matter at the motion stage, the allegations made therein are deemed to have been denied. 7. WPA 29784 of 2025 is disposed of. 8. Urgent photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all the necessary formalities. (Krishna Rao, J.)
