Mr. Saif Ali, learned advocate appears on behalf of petitioner and submits, his client's passport was impounded as far back as on 28th February, 2021. On unfortunate incident of his wife having had committed suicide, he was made accused and convicted. At the time of suicide his client was abroad. He submits further, during pendency of the appeal his client applied for suspension of sentence and was successful in obtaining bail. He refers to order dated 8th July, 2024 made in Criminal Appeal no. 6497 of 2024 by the learned single Judge. His client before Court challenging the impounding and for return of his passport. 2. Mr. Satya Prakash Singh, learned advocate, Central Government Counsel appears on behalf of Union of India and opposes the writ petition. 3. Passport Act, 1967 provides for impounding of passport under section 10. Petitioner will make representation to respondent no.2 for release of his passport stating relevant facts and enclosing certified copy of this order. Said respondent is to either release the passport or give reasons for continuing to withhold it, within four weeks of the representation made. 4. The writ petition is disposed of.
