Prayer in the instant petition, filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, is for issuance of direction to the official respondents to provide protection of lives and liberty to the petitioners, who have married against the wishes of the private respondents. 2. On 26.05.2025, this Court has passed the following order: “Main case Learned State counsel is directed to verify the reason as to how petitioner No.1-Khusbo, who is resident in the State of U.P, is here in Punjab with respondent No.2. List on 07.07.2025.” 3. In compliance to the order referred above, learned Senior Deputy Advocate General, Punjab, has filed status report by way of an affidavit of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sub Division Budhlada (Mansa), dated 06.07.2025, which is taken on record. Registry to tag the same at appropriate place. RAJAN KUMAR 2025.07.08 10:19 I am approving this document CRWP-5221-2025(O&M) 2 While referring to paragraph 4 of the said status report, learned State counsel submits that the statements of the petitioners and all other concerned have already been recorded, wherein it has been clearly noticed that the petitioners are not being threatened at this stage. A marriage certificate dated 16.05.2025 has also been handed over by them. The same reads as under:- “4. That during the enquiry both the petitioners made to join the enquiry proceedings and their statements were recorded along with that their self declarations had also been taken. In their statements they had stated that both the petitioners got married with each other and petitioners had a threat to their life in the hands of respondent No. 4 who is the father of petitioner no. I so that they had filed this petition, however now petitioners are not being threatened by anybody and they are living freely without any fear in village Kahangarh. So, they do not require any protection. Further both the petitioners stated in their statements that they were working along with their parents at the brick killin of Raju at village chottiyan where they met each other. Further petitioners alleged that the application that they moved before SSP Mansa on that also petitioners do not want any kind of further action or proceeding. Further both the petitioners handed over the certificate of Gurudwara Sahib, SIH. Guru Nanak Darbar, Mohalla Sahed Bahi Mati Das Nagar, Mansa and as per this certificate petitioner No. 1 got married with petitioner No. 2 as per sikh rites and rituals on 16.05.2025.
