Hon’ble Vivek Bharti Sharma, J. Mr. Bilal Ahmed, Advocate for the petitioners. 2. Mr. J.S. Virk, Deputy Advocate General with Mr. Rakesh Joshi, Brief Holder for the State of Uttarakhand. 3. Petitioners have approached this Court for protection. According to them, they got married against the wish of parents of petitioner no. 1, therefore, they are unhappy and are extending threat to them. 4. As per the documents enclosed with the writ petition, both the petitioners are major. Date of marriage is mentioned as 25.04.2025 in paragraph no. 9 of the writ petition. The certificate issued by priest of a temple is enclosed as Annexure-9 to the writ petition, in support of petitioners’ claim for marriage. 5. Both the petitioners are physically present in Court. Petitioner no. 2 made a statement that he is residing at Manglour, District Haridwar since last six months, as he is employed there. 6. Learned State Counsel submits that both the petitioners are resident of Ludhiana (Punjab), therefore, they are not entitled for protection from this Court. 7. Since both the petitioners are major and they are living together with their own free will, therefore, in view of the law laid down by Hon’ble Apex Court in the case of Lata Singh Vs. State of U.P. and Another; 2006 (5) SCC 2025:UHC:3339-DB 475, we are inclined to grant protection to the petitioners. 8. Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of with direction to the Station House Officer, Police Station Manglaur, District Haridwar to provide protection to petitioners for a period of 6 weeks to ensure that no harm is caused to them by private respondents or any other person acting at their behest. Upon expiry of 6 weeks, the SHO concerned shall make fresh assessment of threat perception of petitioners and take such steps, as are felt necessary. 9.
