Present criminal writ petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, seeking issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus, directing respondents No. 2 to 4 to safeguard the lives of the petitioners by providing police protection. 2. On advance notice, Mr. Neeraj Madan, Sr. DAG, Punjab, appears on behalf of the State and has filed speaking order dated 18.05.2025 passed by the Station House Officer, Police Station Goraya, District Jalandhar (Rural). Same is taken on record. Registry is directed to tag the same at appropriate place with the paper-book. For reference, speaking order dated 18.05.2025, is reproduced herebelow: “ The CRWP-5154-2025 was filed before the Hon'ble Punjab and Haryana High Court at Chandigarh in which Petitioners seeks Protection of life and liberty. On receiving the copy of petition of Sahib S/o Baldev resident of Village Paddi Jagir District Jalandhar, Punjab and Monika Rani D/o Sukdev Singh Resident of H.No 231 Ward No 5 Azad Nagar Khanna Dist Ludhiana, ASI Subash Kumar No. 125/Jal I/C PP Dhuleta PS. Goraya has been deputed to record the statements of the petitioners. A joint statement of both the petitioners has been recorded, in which they stated that they have no threat to their life from anyone and they do not want any security.
