Mr. J.S. Virk, learned DAG. Mr. Gaurav Kandpal, Mr. Anas Ali, (through VC) learned counsels. JUDGMENT : (PER HON’BLE MR. MANOJ KUMAR TIWARI. J) Petitioners have approached this Court for protection. According to them, they are in love since last two years, and now they have decided to live together as husband and wife. However, parents and other family members of petitioner no.1 are unhappy with their alliance, and therefore, they are extending threat to the petitioners. 2. Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that since both the petitioners belong to different faith, which is a cause of annoyance to the family members of the petitioner no.1. 3. Petitioners appeared before us. Petitioner no.2 stated that he is employed as salesman in a grocery shop at Paltan Bazar, Dehradun, and he is earning Rs.15,000/- per month as salary. Petitioner no.1 stated 1 2025:UHC:3232-DB that she has passed intermediate examination from “Oxford School, Dehradun” in 2024. She stated that she wants to marry with petitioner no.2, however, marriage could not be solemnized so far due to threat to their life at the hands of the private respondents. 4. Mother of petitioner no.1 appeared before us through VC. She stated that she has no objection if her daughter marries with petitioner no.2. 5. Learned State Counsel submits that since both the petitioners are major, and now they have voluntarily decided to live together, local police will ensure that life of the petitioners is protected for a reasonable period. 6. In view of the statement made by learned State Counsel Mr. J.S. Virk, we dispose of the writ petition by directing SHO, P.S. Raipur District Dehradun, to provide protection to the petitioners for a period of eight weeks from today. Upon expiry of eight weeks, the SHO concerned shall make fresh assessment of threat perception of petitioners and take such steps, as are felt necessary. MANOJ KUMAR TIWARI. J. ASHISH NAITHANI, J.
