Chauhan, learned Deputy Advocate General assisted by Mr. Vikash Uniyal, learned Brief Holder for the State of Uttarakhand. 3. Ms. Ruhani, learned counsel for Respondent No. 2. 4. The present Criminal Writ Petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India has been filed on behalf of the Petitioners against the Respondents, particularly Respondent No. 2- Smt. Manisha Verma, with the following prayers: “(i) Issue a writ, order, or direction in the nature of certiorari calling for record and quashing the FIR No. 0578 of 2024 dated 13.07.2024 registered under Section 385 and 506 IPC at Police Station Kotwali Jwalapur, District Haridwar inasmuch as the Petitioner’s and the Respondent’s family has agreed to amicably settle their disputes and withdraw their respective complaints filed against each other.” 5. The present matter is listed today for deciding the Compounding Application and with reference to the observations made by this Court on the last date fixed, i.e., 08.09.2025. It was noted that the present petition relates to an incident wherein the daughter of Petitioner No. 2 was about to be engaged; however, the engagement could not materialize. The engagement and subsequent marriage ceremonies were halted, and thereafter 2025:UHC:8826 complaints were filed by both sides. Petitioner No. 2 filed a petition before this Hon’ble Court, whereas another petition was filed by the private Respondent No. 2 before the Hon’ble Delhi High Court. It was further noted that the parties were in the process of settling terms and intended to resolve the dispute by compounding the matter. 6. Today, Ms. Rohani Sahani, learned counsel for the private Respondent, is present before this Court. As per the last order sheet dated 08.09.2025, whereby the above-named counsel appeared through video conferencing, it was submitted that as per the terms and conditions agreed upon by the parties, the matter pending before the Delhi High Court must be decided on priority, and only thereafter may the present petition be addressed. 7. Today, an order of the Delhi High Court dated 10.09.2025 has been submitted. The operative portion is quoted herein below: “Accordingly, the petition is allowed. FIR No. 0219/24 dated 01.04.2024, lodged at Police Station New Ashok Nagar, Delhi, for offences under Section 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act and Section 406 IPC, and all proceedings emanating therefrom against the petitioners, are hereby quashed.” 8. Since the said order is not certified, although a QR code is annexed thereto, the parties present today, along with their respective counsels, are directed to support the said order of the Delhi High Court with an affidavit. 9. Let the same be filed during the course of the day. 10. The Compounding Application (IA No. 01 of 2025, Paper No. 41) seeks permission to compound the offence on the ground 2025:UHC:8826 that the parties have amicably resolved their disputes. The application has been duly signed by the parties and endorsed by their respective learned counsel—Mr. Vinay Kumar for the Petitioners, and Ms. Rohani Sahani, learned counsel for Respondent No. 2. Affidavits in support of the application have also been filed by the parties. 11. Learned State Counsel opposes the Compounding Application. 12. The Petitioners and Respondent No. 2 are present in person and have been duly identified by their respective counsels. 13. Admit. 14. After interacting with the parties, this Court is satisfied that a genuine compromise has been arrived at. The Court also finds that the statements of the Petitioners and Respondent No. 2 were made voluntarily, without any duress or undue influence. 15. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, the Compounding Application is allowed, and the compromise between the parties is accepted. Consequently, F.I.R. No. 0578 of 2024 dated 13.07.2024 registered under Section 385 and 506 IPC at Police Station Kotwali Jwalapur, District Haridwar, is hereby quashed insofar as it relates to the present Petitioners, in terms of the compromise. 16. The Criminal Writ Petition stands disposed of accordingly. 17. All pending applications, if any, also stand disposed of.
