Mr. Rakesh Kumar Joshi, learned Brief Holder. JUDGMENT : (PER HON’BLE MR. MANOJ KUMAR TIWARI. J) Petitioners have approached this Court for protection. According to them, they are in love for last eight months, and they ultimately decided to get married. In paragraph 4 of writ petition, it is mentioned that petitioners got married on 21.04.2025, at Shiv Mandir, Laksar, District Haridwar. Certificate issued by priest of Shiv Mandir, Laksar, District Haridwar, is enclosed as Annexure no.1 to the writ petition. In paragraph 5 of writ petition, petitioners have given an undertaking that they will apply for registration of their marriage under Uniform Civil Code before competent authority. As per documents brought on record, both the petitioners are major. 2. Parties are present before this Court through VC. 1 2025:UHC:3235-DB 3. Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that father and other family members of petitioner no.1 are annoyed by their marriage, therefore, they are extending threat to them. He submits that it is a serious threat to life and liberty of the petitioners. 4. Learned State Counsel submits that since both the petitioners are major, therefore, local police authorities will ensure that there is no threat caused to the life of the petitioners for a reasonable time. 5. In view of the statement made by learned State Counsel, we dispose of the writ petition by directing SHO, P.S. Khanpur, District Haridwar, to provide protection to the petitioners for a period of eight weeks from today. Upon expiry of eight weeks, the SHO concerned shall make fresh assessment of threat perception of petitioners and take such steps, as are felt necessary. MANOJ KUMAR TIWARI. J. ASHISH NAITHANI, J.
