CRWP-4903-2025 1 IN THE HIGH COURT OF PUNJAB AND HARYANA AT CHANDIGARH 115 CRWP-4903-2025 Decided on: 14.05.2025 Gunjan Rani and another ......Petitioners Versus State of Punjab and others ......Respondents CORAM: HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE SANJAY VASHISTH Present: Mr. Suresh Kumar Dhiman, Advocate for the petitioners. Mr. Neeraj Madan, Sr. DAG, Punjab (appeared on advance notice). **** SANJAY VASHISTH
, J.
1. Prayer in the instant petition, filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, is for issuance of direction to the official respondents to provide protection of lives and liberty to the petitioners, who have married against the wishes of the private respondents.
2. Doubting the residential address of the petitioners, and noting that the rent agreement appended with the petition is notarized only on 08.05.2025, with no other substantive evidence on record to establish that the petitioners are residing in the State of Punjab, it prima facie appears that the present petition is not maintainable before this Court, as both the petitioners are residents of their respective native villages in the State of Uttar Pradesh.
3. Faced with the situation, learned counsel for the petitioner wishes to withdraw the present petition at this stage.
4. Dismissed as withdrawn as this stage.
