The grievance is that the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (S.A.A.P.) perhaps was not considering the said event as eligible to consider him under 2. 2 the Sports Quota in accordance with G.O.Ms.No.10, Youth Advancement, Tourism & Culture (Sports) Department, dated 15.07.2008. 3. On a perusal of G.O.Ms.No.lO, dated 15.07.2008, it can be seen that among others, a candidate if he participates in the event of Roller Skating would be eligible under the Sports Category. 4. The issue that arises for consideration is whether participation in the Inline Hockey by the petitioner would make him eligible to be considered in the Sports Category? 5. There is another writ petition bearing No.30111 of 2025 where the petitioners seeks a mandamus in which also a similar issue arises where the emphasis is that the participation in Inline Hockey would not make the petitioner in W.P.No.28620 of 2025 eligible for consideration under the event of Roller Skating. Learned counsel for the S.A.A.P., however, has placed material before us which would suggest that Inline Hockey also is an event which is played on roller skates and therefore, the participation in the event by the petitioner in W.P.No.28620 of 2025 would make him eligible for consideration under the Sports Category notwithstanding the fact that in G.O.Ms.No.lO, dated 15.07.2008, Inline Hockey was not specifically enumerated as one of the events. 6. 7. On a perusal of the certificates placed by the petitioner in W.P.No.28620 of 2025, it can be seen that the Andhra Pradesh Roller Skating 3 Association has issued certificates in favour of the petitioner reflecting and certifying his participation in Inline Hockey. The certificates also reflect the factum of his non-participation in Roller Hockey and Mixed Roller Hockey. It, therefore, becomes clear that all these events are organized under the aegis of the Andhra Pradesh Roller Skating Association, which is stated to be a recognized Association, and ail the events are played by the use of roller skates. The fact that Inline Hockey is not specifically mentioned in the G.O. would not, in any manner, affect the right of the petitioner, in our opinion, to claim the credit for having participated at an international event such as the World Cup Championship in Inline Hockey. Needless to say that denying the benefit of such a participation in the Sports Category to the petitioner would indeed be unfair inasmuch as we have been told by the learned counsel for the respondents and not denied by the learned counsel for the petitioners in W.P.No.30111 of 2025 that even in the past, those candidates who have participated in Inline Hockey events were given credit for such participation and were considered and perhaps granted admission to various professional courses in the State. 8. 9. Be that as it may, W.P.No.28620 of 2025 is allowed. The respondents shall consider the case of the petitioner and if he makes up the merit, admission be granted by the University. As a consequence of the directions in W.P.No.28620 of 2025, we find no merit in the writ petition filed by the petitioners in W.P.No.30111 of 2025 and the same is, accordingly, dismissed.
