This criminal writ petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of Constitution of India seeking issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus thereby directing the official respondent Nos. 1 to 3 for protection of life and liberty of the petitioners from private respondents. 2. Learned counsel for the petitioners contends that both the petitioners are major and they fell in love with each other and are residing in a live-in relationship but the said relationship is not acceptable to private respondents and they are threatening the petitioners with dire consequences. The petitioners apprehend danger to their life and liberty from private respondents and in this regard, submitted a representation dated 05.05.2025 (Annexure P-3) to respondent No. 2 but no action has been taken so far. 3. Notice of motion to official respondents only. 4. Mr. Subhash Godara, Addl. A.G., Punjab, who is present in Court accepts notice for the official respondents. Counsel for the petitioners is directed to supply a copy of complete paper book to the counsel appearing for the State during the course of the day. Without commenting on the validity of their relationship and entering upon an exercise to evaluate the evidentiary value of the documents placed on the file, I dispose of this petition with direction to respondent No. 2 to decide the representation dated 05.05.2025 of the petitioners (Annexure P- 3) within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and grant them protection, if there is any threat to their life and liberty in accordance with law. 5. It is made clear that this order shall not be taken to protect the petitioners from legal action for violation of law, if any committed by them.
