In Re : Md. Sahid ... Petitioner Mr. Prajanadeepta Roy, Mr. Debojyoti Goswami, Mr. Rajan Ray,
... for the Petitioner. Mr. Aditi Shankar Chakraborty, Mr. Aniruddha Biswas,
... For the State.
Affidavit of service filed on behalf of the petitioner is taken on record. This is an application seeking bail. It is submitted on behalf of the learned advocate appearing for the petitioner that the petitioner has been in custody since March 8, 2024. It is also submitted that considering the long detention, the petitioner should be released on bail. Learned advocate for the State relies on the materials in the Case Diary including the statements of the injured witnesses as well as the Postmortem report. He opposes the prayer for bail. The petitioner had assaulted the victims who was his wife and mother in law who succumbed to the injuries. The Postmortem report contained in the Case Diary discloses that the petitioner stabbed the victims repeatedly with a knife resulting in
2 bleeding injury to the wife and fatal injury to the mother in law. It is informed that the investigation of the case has concluded. Charges stood framed and the case is fixed for examination of prosecution witnesses on and from July 29, 2025. Considering the nature of allegations and the incident as well as the nature of injuries on the person of the victims as also taking into account that the trial of the case has already commenced, I am not inclined to enlarge the petitioner on bail. Accordingly, the bail prayer of the petitioner stands rejected. CRM (DB) 633 of 2024 is disposed of. Case diary be returned. Urgent certified website copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities.
