(ORAL) The present criminal writ petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of directions to the official respondents to protect the life and liberty of the petitioner at the hands of private respondents. The learned counsel for the petitioners contend that the petitioners are residing in live-in relationship with each other against the wishes of respondents No. 4 to 8 and seek protection to their life and liberty. They apprehend danger from respondents No. 4 yo 8. The petitioners have also submitted a representation (Annexure P-3) to respondent No. 2 but no action has been taken so far. Notice of motion to official respondents only. Mr. Sandeep Kumar, DAG, Punjab, who is present in Court accepts notice for the official respondents. directed to supply a copy of complete paper book to the counsel appearing for the State during the course of the day. Without commenting on the validity of the relationship of the petitioners and entering upon an exercise to evaluate the evidentiary value of the documents placed on file, I dispose of this petition with direction to respondent No.2 to decide the representation of the petitioners (Annexure P-3) within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and grant them protection, if there is any threat to their life and liberty in accordance with law. It is made clear that this order shall not be taken to protect the petitioners from legal action for violation of law, if any committed by them.
