By consent of the learned counsel for the parties, the matter is taken for final disposal. Sknair 3/4 1-apl-584-17(j).odt 2. By way of present application, the applicants seek to quash and set aside the First Information Report (FIR) No. 6 of 2017 dated 6th January, 2017 registered with Police Station Chikhali, District Buldhana for the offences punishable under Sections 498-A, 504, 506 read with Section 34 of Indian Penal Code. 3. Non-applicant no.2 lodged the police complaint against the applicant no.1 and other family members by alleging that after her marriage, the applicant no.1 and in-laws had given her ill-treatment. She is therefore constrained to lodge the police complaint against the applicant no.1 and other family members as harassment was unbearable. 4. During the pendency of the present application, by the order dated 25th November, 2024, this Court has referred the matter for mediation. 5. It is stated that the learned Mediator on 28th January, 2025 submitted his report informing that the applicant no.1 and non-applicant no.2 arrived at amicable settlement and in furtherance of same executed Terms of mutual settlement before him. The said report is taken on record and marked as ‘X’ for the purpose of identification. Both the Sknair 4/4 1-apl-584-17(j).odt parties through their advocates confirmed the fact that the matter is amicably settled between them. 6. In view of the above said amicable settlement before the learned Mediator, no useful purpose is likely to be served by allowing a criminal prosecution to continue against applicants. Accordingly, we proceed to pass the following order. ORDER i. Criminal Application No. 584 of 2017 is allowed, in terms of mutual settlement dated 23rd January, 2025 executed between applicant no.1 and non-applicant no.2. ii. First Information Report (FIR) No. 6 of 2017 dated 6th January, 2017 registered with Police Station Chikhali, District Buldhana for the offences punishable under Sections 498-A, 504, 506 read with Section 34 of Indian Penal Code is hereby quashed and set aside.
