This writ petition has been filed challenging the proceedings of the https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis WP No. 20195 of 2025 3 rd respondent dated 15.04.2025 and for a consequential direction to the 3 rd respondent to conduct a fresh peace committee meeting after affording opportunity to the petitioner trust. 2. Heard Mr.A.K.Rajaraman, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.R.Murthi, learned Government Advocate for Respondents 1 to 4 and Mr.Leonard Arul Joseph Selvam, learned Government Advocate [Crl. The case of the petitioner is that Arasannan temple situated at Vellalapalayam, Vellalore Gramam, Madukkarai Taluk, Coimbatore District, is in existence for more than 300 years and it is a family deity. There are two different groups in that village and it is the case of the petitioner that both the groups were offering prayers and participating in the rituals and festivals conducted at the temple. 4. There was misunderstanding between both the groups and as a result, one of the group was attempting to take over the entire administration of the temple. This created breach of peace and as a result, the parties were called for a peace committee meeting. It was held on 15.04.2025 before the 3 rd respondent. At that point of time, the 3 rd respondent without affording opportunity to the petitioner ultimately came to a conclusion that as if both the groups have agreed to conduct the festival. Aggrieved by the same, the present https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis WP No. 20195 of 2025 writ petition has been filed before this Court. 5. In the considered view of this Court, the temple in question is a very old temple and for a long period of time, persons belonging to Vani group and the Kattarasan group were offering prayers and are participating in the rituals and festivals together. Before god no one has to seek for any priority and it is believed that all are equal before god Therefore, considering the interest of all concerned, it will be more appropriate if persons belonging to both the groups are permitted to participate in the festival and to offer prayers and rituals. 6. It is made clear that the petitioner group will participate in the Rituals and festivals without claiming for any first priority. The 3 rd respondent shall ensure that the kumbhabishekam for the temple is conducted in a peaceful manner without giving rise to any law and order problem and the impleaded 5 th respondent shall give sufficient police protection. 7. This writ petition is disposed of in the above terms.
