1. The petitioner is before this Court seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the first respondent Bank to mark a lien for a sum of Rs.8,00,000/- in her bank account and to release the balance amount, and further to permit her to operate the account beyond the said amount. 2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner’s bank account was frozen pursuant to instructions issued by the second respondent Police, on the allegation that a sum of Rs.8,00,000/- had been fraudulently transferred to the petitioner’s account. Based on the said allegation, the Bank was directed to mark a lien on the account. It is further submitted that, out of the said amount, a sum of Rs.5,00,000/- has already been released by the Bank, allegedly without issuing any notice to the petitioner. 2/4 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis

3. Insofar as the grievance relating to the release of Rs.5,00,000/- is concerned, the petitioner is at liberty to work out her remedy before the appropriate forum in accordance with law. 4. In view of the above, this Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the first respondent Bank to mark a lien for a sum of Rs.3,00,000/- in the petitioner’s account and permit the petitioner to operate the bank account for the remaining amount beyond the said sum. 5. There shall be no order as to costs.
