Prayer in the present application moved on behalf of the applicants-petitioners, is for preponing the date of hearing of main case from 11.09.2025 to an earlier date. Notice of the application qua respondent No. 2. Learned State Counsel accepts notice on behalf of respondent No. 2 and raises no objection against the prayer made in the application. In view of the above, present application is allowed; the date of hearing of main case is preponed and with the consent of learned counsel for the parties, the main case is taken up today itself. The petitioners, by way of present writ petition, seek issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus for directing respondent No. 2 (Land Acquisition Collector, Colonization Department, Punjab) to decide their application / petition (Annexure P-2) under Section 28-A of the Land Dinesh Kumar 2025.08.04 17:56 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

Acquisition Act, 1894 with regard to re-determination of the compensation, in a time bound manner. [2]
Learned State Counsel, on instructions from Sh. Maninder Bedi, Land Acquisition Collector, Colonization Department, Mohali, Punjab, submits that the aforesaid reference petition (Annexure P-2) filed at the instance of petitioners shall be finally adjudicated upon within four weeks from the date fixed therein i.e. 07.08.2025. [3]
In view of the aforesaid stand / undertaking made on behalf of respondent No. 2, present petition is disposed off. [4]
Considering the fact that the aforesaid petition (Annexure P-2) was filed by the petitioners wayback in the year 2019 and the same is pending adjudication for the past almost six years now, thus, in case respondent No. 2 fails to abide by the aforesaid undertaking, he shall be personally liable to pay costs of Rs. 1 lakh to the petitioners-landowners within two weeks of the expiry of four weeks from 07.08.2025.

It is further made clear that in case respondent No. 2 fails to decide the aforementioned petition within the stipulated period and even fails to deposit the costs within time fixed, the costs shall be recovered as arrears of land revenue by the Office of District Magistrate, SAS Nagar (Mohali) and the same shall be released in favour of the petitioners immediately. [6]
Pending miscellaneous application(s), if any, shall also stand
disposed off.
