Petitioners in this writ petition pray for the following relief:- PRAYER “It is, therefore, prayed that in the facts and circumstances stated above and in the interest of justice, this Hon'ble Court may be graciously pleased to pass appropriate writ(s)/directions; (i) Directing the Opp. Party Nos.! and 2 to enquire into the matter under Annexure-4 and to complete all exercises in accordance with the provisions of The Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970 and take a final decision after consultation with the State Advisory Board with regard to abolition of contract labour in the establishment of Opp. Page 2 of 3 Party No.3 in respect of the job of Security Guards within a stipulated time as may be fixed by this Hon'ble Court; (ii) Directing the Opp. Party Nos.3 and 4 not to take any coercive action against the present contract workers engaged as Security Guards in the establishment of the Opp. Party No.3 till a final decision is taken by the Opp. Party No.1 as per prayer No.(i). And, issue such other directions as this Hon'ble Court may deem fit and proper; And, for this act of kindness the petitioners shall as in duty bound ever pray.” 3. Mr. Jena, learned counsel for the petitioners, at the outset submits that, in view of Letter No.8232/LC, Bhubaneswar, dated 10.11.2025, issued by the Additional Labour Commissioner, Odisha, to the petitioner-union, the petitioners do not want to press the writ petition and pray for withdrawal of the same. Vide letter dated 10.11.2025 addressed to the petitioner-union, the Additional Labour Commissioner, Odisha, stated as under; “Sir, With reference to the above, I am to say that your representation dtd. 28.10.2025 regarding abolition of contract labour system in TPCODL will be placed before the next State Advisory Contract Labour Board meeting. This is submitted for your information. Your faithfully, Sd/- Addl. Labour Commissioner, Odisha.” 4. He files a copy of the said letter along with memo in Court today, which is taken on record.
