This writ petition is filed challenging the appointment of the 5^^ respondent as Anganwadi helper. 2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that, pursuant to the notification dated 20.06.2012, inviting applications for the post of Anganwadi helper, the petitioner applied for the post and appeared for an interview conducted by the selection committee. The learned counsel further submits that the petitioner secured 411 marks in S.S.C., whereas the respondent secured only 270 marks in S.S.C. It is also submitted that although the marks -2- W.P. No.30533of 2012 secured in S.S.C. are not the sole criteria for selecting a candidate for the post of Anganwadi helper, in the interview, out of 15 marks, the 5*^ respondent was awarded 10 marks, whereas the petitioner was awarded only 3 marks. It is submitted that the petitioner is more meritorious compared to the 5‘^ respondent: however, the selection committee awarded marks in a biased manner to ensure that the respondent was selected. 3. The learned Assistant Government Pleader appearing for the respondents submits that the respondents awarded the petitioner the maximum marks for the S.S.C. marks she secured. The selection committee awarded the petitioner only 46 marks out of 50. However, the 5*'^ respondent performed better in the interview and outperformed the petitioner, which resulted in the appointment orders being issued in favour of the 5*^ respondent. 4. Considering the submissions of the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Assistant Government Pleader appearing for the respondents, this Court finds that the appointment of the 5'^^ respondent was in pursuance of the proceedings passed by the selection committee, which granted the petitioner the maximum marks for her S.S.C. qualification. However, as the marks secured in the S.S.C. -3- W.P. No.30533 of 2012 cannot be the sole criterion for claiming the post of Anganwadi helper, the appointment of the 5^^ respondent does not warrant interference of this Court. 5. Hence, the writ petition is dismissed without costs. 6. Miscellaneous petitions, if any, pending in this writ petition shall stand closed.
