JUSTICE PRADEEP SINGH YERUR) 1. The petitioner aged 86 years has filed the present petition for renewal of his arm’s licence on the ground that he had possessed the arms licence since 1970 and is valid till 30th June 2024. The petitioner had applied for renewal of arm’s licence even prior to the expiry of the same. 2. This being the state of affairs, respondent No.2 issued a show cause notice to the petitioner as to why the licence should not be revoked. The petitioner has replied to the said notice but no action has been taken till date. The petitioner is waiting endlessly for a reply or suitable action of either renewal or rejection for whatsoever reason but nothing is forthcoming from the respondents thereby causing delay, hardship and anxiety to the petitioner. Hence, the petitioner is before this Court for consideration of the renewal of his licence. [[ 3. Learned AGA contends that the notice which is issued is in accordance with the Arms Act and the Rules - 3 - HC-KAR NC: 2025:KHC-D:8232 WP No. 103774 of 2025 prescribed. Therefore, it is for the petitioner to answer the same. 4. Be that as it may. The renewal application filed by the petitioner would be considered in accordance with law within a reasonable time. 5. The petitioner submits that he had complied with the requirement and if any further documents are required, he would comply the same. 6. In view of the said submission, the petition is partly allowed. The respondents are directed to consider the application for renewal of arms licence of the petitioner within two weeks from the date of appearance of the petitioner before the concerned authority along with the required documents.
