HARI BABU MAGULURI SC For SERP The Court made the following: ORDER: Declaring the action of the respondents in not continuing to pay the Widow Pension and Old Age Pensions (Social Security Pensions) to the petitioners every month and also not paying the arrears, as illegal and arbitrary, the present writ petition is filed. 2. Heard Sri Srinivas Ambati, learned counsel for the petitioners and Sri M.Hari Babu, learned Standing Counsel for SERP for the respondents. 3. learned counsel for the petitioner while reiterating the contents of the affidavit contended that the respondents stopped paying the widow pension to the 1st petitioner from 25.03.2020 and old pension to 2nd & 3rd petitioners from 25.09.2019 without any valid reason. Thereafter, the petitioners filed representations dated 18.08.2025 & 08.09.2025 to the District Collector, Srikakulam, requesting to continue the said pensions and also to pay the arrears to them. As no action has been taken by the respondents, the petitioners approached this Court by way of this writ petition. He further submitted that it would suffice if a direction is given to the respondents to consider the representations of the petitioners and prayed to pass appropriate orders protecting the interest of petitioners. 3. On the other hand, learned Standing Counsel on written instructions submitted that after verification it was revealed that the petitioners are eligible for 4 restoring their pensions and the respondents would take steps in that regard, accordingly, prayed to pass appropriate orders. 4. Taking into consideration, the submissions of both the learned counsel, as the authorities are ready to restore the pension to the petitioners, this Court is inclined to dispose of the Writ Petition at admission stage. 5. Accordingly, the Writ Petition is disposed of. The respondents are directed to pay the pension to the petitioners under the Widow Pension and Old Age Pensions (Social Security Pensions) scheme. Further, the respondents have to pay arrears if any as expeditiously as possible. There shall be no order as to costs.
