IN THE HIGH COURT OF ORISSA AT CUTTACK W.P.(C) NO.19739 OF 2025 Babita Rath …. Petitioner Mr. R. Chhotaray, Advocate -versus- State of Odisha & Others …. Opp.Parties Mr. S.B. Mohanty, AGA CORAM: HON’BLE MR. JUSTICE DIXIT KRISHNA SHRIPAD ORDER Order No. 28.07.2025 01. 1. This matter is taken up through hybrid mode. 2. The short grievance of the Petitioner is as to non-inclusion of her name, who happens to be the mother of the child Kumari Dibyajyoti Dash, in the school records. Learned counsel for the Petitioner submits that there is no legal impediment for entering the name of the child in the school records and non-introducing of the said name would possibly create in future problems relating to higher education, employment, travelling abroad, etc. 3. Learned AGA-Mr. Mohanty appearing for Opposite Parties submits that if the Petitioner cooperates, there would be no much difficulty in addressing her grievance in a time bound way and in accordance with law. This is absolutely fair. In the above circumstances, writ petition is disposed of directing the Opposite Party No.3 to effect necessary changes in the school records by mentioning the name of Petitioner as child’s mother, and report to the Registrar General of this Court within four weeks, failing which it is open to the Petitioner to seek for levy of heavy costs on the official concerned personally payable by them, by moving appropriate application. Now, no costs. (Dixit Krishna Shripad) Judge Madhusmita
