ORAL ORDER The petitioner who is serving life sentence has filed this writ petition seeking extension of time and grant of additional period of 90 days of parole. The petitioner had approached this Court in W.P.No.31110/2024 and by Order dated 21.11.2024, this Court directed release of the petitioner on parole for a period of 90 days. Accordingly, the petitioner was granted parole from 26.11.2024 and the period of 90 days will come to an end today. The petitioner has filed this writ petition seeking extension of the period of parole by another 90 days. - 3 -

2. Learned Additional Government Advocate draws the attention of this Court to Rule 638 of the Karnataka Prisons and Correctional Services Manual - 2021, which provides that there should be a gap of six months between two general paroles after surrender date of previous parole.
Further, Rule 640 of the Manual provides that the general parole shall be granted to the convict initially for a period of not exceeding 30 days which may be extended up to another 60 days but not extending total period of 90 days. 3. That being the position, this Court is of the considered opinion that such prayer made by the petitioner cannot be accepted. The Writ Petition is accordingly, dismissed. Sd/- (R DEVDAS) JUDGE
