At the outset, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that he restricts his prayer to the issuance of directions to respondent No.1 to finally dispose of the petitioner’s application dated 28.06.2024 for grant of parole as the same has been pending decision since June, 2024. 2. Learned counsel for the U.T. has no objection to the acceptance of the afore alternate prayer made on behalf of the petitioner. 3. After hearing learned counsel for the parties and going through the record, we find that the decision on the petitioner’s request for grant of parole has been unnecessarily delayed by the State which is also against the spirit behind Section 3 of the Punjab Good Conduct Prisoners (Temporary Release) Act, 1962.
