The petitioner, who was working in the TN Special Police's Motor Transport Wing sought confirmation of seniority on par with juniors who worked in the General line of TN Special Police, as per G.O.Ms.No. 1710 Home (Police IX) Dept., dated November 23, 2007. The main prayer in the Writ Petition is to give retrospective effect to the said G.O. 3. Generally, a G.O has prospective effect unless it specifically mentions retrospective application.
