Learned advocate Mr.Jeet Bhatt for the petitioner has tendered a copy of the receipt whereby it indicates that the petitioner has received the amount of Rs.2,46,185/- towards the interest due on delayed payment of pension/gratuity. The same is taken on record. 2. It is very unfortunate that the person has to fight for many years to get pension/gratuity amount and the department has to pay interest of such a huge amount towards it, due to inaction or negligence on the part of the concerned department / officer. This Court has come across such cases repeatedly. Since this is a misuse of amount of public money, it amounts to injustice to the society at large in absence of fixing accountability and liability of the C/SCA/10774/2018 ORDER DATED: 08/07/2025 concerned officer/s. 3. Let the concerned authorities to take cognizance of these aspects and fix the accountability and liability of the concerned officer/s, who is at fault in not processing the papers within reasonable time. 4. With above observations, this petition is disposed of. 5. Copy of the order shall be sent to the Director, Pension and Provident Fund Department, Gandhinagar for necessary action. 6. Copy of the order be also sent to the Chief Secretary, Government of Gujarat, for cognizance of such matters. (SANDEEP N. BHATT,J) M.H.
