Prayer made in the present petition was for quashing the action of respondents in not regularising the services of the petitioners in terms of the policy instructions dated 23.01.2001. 2. In the index of the petition, reference was made to pendency of CWP- 17411-1998 titled as Madan Mohan and Another vs. Punjab Agriculture University and Others, stated to be involving the identical dispute concerning regularisation in the same institution, which was admitted for regular hearing. The aforesaid case was now dismissed on 09.05.2024, which reads thus: “1. It is a case where the daily paid labourers are seeking regularization. 2. Reply has been filed by the respondents stating that there are no posts in the Agriculture University and daily paid labourers were engaged for agriculture operations and there is no intention of the university officials to remove the petitioners as daily paid labourers. 3. This Court finds that the writ petition was filed in the year 1998. The daily paid labourers concept for agriculture operations in the agriculture university is required to be sustained. More so, as there are no posts intended nor it can be said that how many daily paid labourers would be required for MOHIT 2025.05.14 17:11 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document CWP-1416-2006 (O&M) -2- a particular agriculture operation. However, it is noted that even the daily paid labourers are required to be paid under the Minimum Wages Act as fixed by the State Government from time to time. Leaving it open for the Agriculture University to act accordingly, the writ petition claiming regularization is dismissed. 4. All pending misc. application(s) also stand disposed of.” 3.
