The petitioner filed this writ petition seeking for a mandamus directing the respondents to consider the representation submitted by the petitioner and appoint the petitioner on compassionate grounds in place of her deceased husband, late Sharanabasappa Kanakala vide Annexure-A dated 15.05.2023. 2. Brief facts leading rise to the filing of this writ petition are as follows: 3. The husband of the petitioner was employed as an Assistant Lineman in respondent company, Magadi Division. He passed away on 22.03.2023. On 15.05.2023, the petitioner submitted a requisition to the respondent's company seeking appointment on compassionate grounds. The respondents have not replied to the requisition submitted by the petitioner. Hence, this writ petition. - 4 - HC-KAR NC: 2025:KHC:39528 WP No. 27333 of 2025 4. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and also learned counsel for the respondents. 5. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner has submitted a requisition for appointment on compassionate grounds in place of her deceased husband late Sharanabasappa Kanakala. The respondents have not passed any order on the requisition submitted by the petitioner. Hence, he submits that it is the legal duty on the part of the respondents to pass an appropriate order on the requisition. Hence, on these grounds, he prays to allow the writ petition. 6. Per contra, learned counsel for the respondents submits that if reasonable time is granted to the respondents, the respondents would consider the application in accordance with law and pass appropriate order. 7. There is no dispute in regard to the deceased Sharanabasappa Kanakala was working in the respondent's company as an Assistant Lineman. He passed away on 22.03.2023. After the demise of Sharanabasappa Kanakala, the petitioner submitted a requisition for appointment on compassionate grounds in place of her deceased husband. The said requisition was submitted on 15.05.2023. The respondents till date have not considered the requisition. 9. The learned counsel for the respondents submits that if the reasonable time is granted to the respondents, the respondents would consider the application. In view of the submission made by the learned counsel for the respondents, I proceed to pass the following order: ORDER i. The respondents are directed to consider the requisition of the petitioner vide Annexure-A dated 15.05.2023 and pass an appropriate order in accordance with law within eight weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order.
