This is an assigned matter. Affidavit-of-service, filed in Court today, is taken on record. Mr. Rabindra Nath Mahato, learned advocate appears for the petitioner. Mr. Sudip Kumar Maiti, learned advocate appears for the State respondents. The petitioner was working as Primary Teacher and retired on September 30, 2023 after rendering service about 23 years. The retiral benefit was released and paid to the petitioner on July 2,
2024. The petitioner claims interest on delayed payment. In the view of the above, the respondent no. 2 is directed to pay interest on the delayed payment @ 6% per annum on and from October 1, 2023 till July 1, 2024 on the entire amount paid on September 30, 2023. The interest shall be paid and released by crediting the bank account of the
2 petitioner positively within a period of four weeks from the date of communication of this order. In the event of any default, the rate of interest shall be @ 9% per annum on and from the expiry of the said period of two weeks from the date of communication of this order till the actual payment is made to the petitioner. On the above terms and conditions, this writ petition, WPA 23036 of 2024 stands allowed, without any order as to costs. Photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be furnished expeditiously.
