APHC010653032025 IN THE HIGH COURT OF ANDHRA PRADESH AT AMARAVATI WRIT PETITION NO: 33679 of 2025 Bench Sr.No:- L.M.1 [3552] Dr. Somireddy Tejasree Reddy ...Petitioner Vs. The State of Andhra Pradesh and others ...Respondents ********** Advocate for Petitioner: Mr. G. V. S. Mehar Kumar Advocate for Respondent: Mrs. T. V. Sridevi, Standing Counsel for Dr. N.T.R. University of Health Sciences, Mr. Vivek Chandra Sekhar S, GP for Medical Health FW CORAM : THE CHIEF JUSTICE DHIRAJ SINGH THAKUR SRI JUSTICE CHALLA GUNARANJAN DATE : 2nd December, 2025. P C : The petitioner is suffering from hearing impairment to the extent of 45%. The petitioner having been examined by a Medical Board constituted by Dr. N.T.R. University of Health Sciences found the petitioner eligible for DVL, Radiology, Transfusion Medicine, Ophthalmology, ENT, Psychiatry, Radiotherapy only and all non-clinical branches. 2. The petitioner, however, is interested to be considered for admission in branches like General Medicine and Gynecology. The report of the Medical Board, however, does not at all reflect as to how the petitioner has been found unfit for undergoing the courses in General Medicine or Gynecology and what is the correlation between her hearing impairment, which is to the extent of 45%, and the subject in which the petitioner is seeking admission. 2 HCJ & CGRJ WP_33679_2025 3. Learned Standing Counsel for the University has no objection in case the petitioner is directed to be examined yet again by the Board, who shall pass a speaking order upon the revaluation. 4. Learned counsel for the petitioner states that use of Littmann core Digital Stethoscope which amplifies the sound by 40 times, to a large extent, will overcome the disability which the petitioner suffers from and with the help of this assistive device, it is stated that there would be no difficulty at all in the petitioner either undergoing the course in question or subsequently discharging her duties in the relevant fields. 5. Be that as it may, we dispose of this Writ Petition with a direction to Dr. N.T.R. University of Health Sciences to constitute a Medical Board with experts also drawn from the relevant field, who shall examine and reevaluate the case of the petitioner for admission, keeping in view the observations made by us hereinabove and a speaking order be passed. The petitioner is directed to appear before the Medical Board preferably within one week from today. No costs. Pending miscellaneous applications, if any, in this case, shall stand closed.
