The petitioners, who are four in number, have raised the issue of discharge of untreated water into the Satluj Yamuna Link (SYL) Canal. Therefore, a restraint order is sought against respondent No. 4 – Gram Panchayat, Village Rora, Tehsil Kharar, District SAS Nagar, Mohali, Punjab in this regard.

The issue, essentially, relates to water pollution and the petitioners under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 have a remedy to approach the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

Accordingly, this Court relegates the petitioners to the NGT without interfering into the merits of the matter.

The petition, accordingly, stands disposed of.
