Bharati Kumari & Anr. Versus State of West Bengal & Ors.
Mr. K. J. Yusuf, AGP Mr. Sanjay Mukherjee
…for the State.
Petitioners before this Court are newly married couple who entered into an inter-religious marriage and were apprehensive regarding the insecurity at the hands of others being lynched for such marriage. State has submitted a report in the form of an affidavit which reflects that efforts were made to trace out the petitioners. However, the petitioners could not be traced at the address which is made available by them. To that extent, the landlord was also examined and the whereabouts of the petitioners could not be traced. Having regard to the fact that the incident complained of is of September, 2024, I am of the view that substantial time has passed. If the petitioners are faced with fresh inconveniences they would approach the concerned police station. The police authorities would assess and ascertain
2 regarding the genuinity of the allegations and thereafter take steps in accordance with law. With the aforesaid observations WPA 22345 of 2024 is disposed of. Affidavit in the form of report be kept with the record. All parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.
