The case of the petitioners is that petitioner No.1 had named his son (petitioner No.2) as Samrat, but it has now been changed as Druvik.S. Hence, petitioner No.1 has made a request to Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike to change the name of his son accordingly in the birth certificate. As the same has not been accepted, the present writ petition is filed with the following prayers: "a) Issue a writ of certiorari or any other writ of like nature to quash the impugned endorsement dated 20.08.2025 bearing No.Sa.Ni(Saa)/Ya.Va/ Ja.Ma/P.R/120/25-26 issued by the Respondent No.3 vide Annexure A; b) Issue a writ in the nature of Mandamus directing the Respondents to change the name of Petitioner No.2 from "Samrat.S" to "Druvik S" in the Birth Certificate as expeditiously as possible as per representation dated 14.08.2025 produced at Annexure B; c) Grant any other remedy that this Hon'ble Court deems fit, in the interest of justice and equity." 2. Learned counsel for the respondent-BBMP, upon instructions, submits that they would hold necessary enquiry under Section 15 of the Registration of Births and - 4 - HC-KAR NC: 2025:KHC:38684 WP No. 29150 of 2025 Deaths Act read with the relevant Rules and pass appropriate orders accordingly. His submission is placed on record. 3. Hence, the following: ORDER (i) The impugned endorsement dated 20.08.2025 (vide Annexure-A to the writ petition) issued by respondent No.3 is hereby set aside; (ii) Respondent No.2 is directed to consider the request of petitioner No.1 by conducting the necessary enquiry as per Section 15 of the Registration of Births and Deaths Act read with the relevant Rules and also in the light of the order passed in W.P.No.6370/2024 and pass appropriate orders accordingly.
