The challenge in these petitions is to the orders dated 21st February, 2025 passed by the Deputy Registrar, Co-operative Societies, thereby granting a certificate of recovery under Section 101 of the Maharashtra Co-operative Societies Act, 1960 (“the Act, 1960”). 3. The petitioners have an efficacious statutory remedy under Section 154 of the Act, 1960. No case for exercise of extraordinary writ jurisdiction despite the existence of statutory 3/4 901-WP7673-2025+.DOC remedy, especially in the face of the interdict contained in sub- section 2A of Section 154, which mandates the person challenging the recovery certificate under Section 101 to deposit 50% of the total amount of recoverable dues, is made out. 4.
