The petitioners appeared for the posts of Constable (GD) in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and SSF, Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles, and Sepoy in the 2 Narcotics Control Bureau Examination – 2025. All petitioners successfully qualified the Computer- Based Examination (C.B.I). Subsequently, they were required to participate in the Physical Standard Test (PST). During the PST, their recorded heights were below 170 cm, whereas the relevant examination notification prescribed a minimum height standard of 170 cm for male candidates. Some petitioners submitted before this Court that they had previously participated in the recruitment process in the preceding year, during which their heights were recorded as exceeding 170 cm. The petitioners further contended that although they intended to file an appeal against the results of the Physical Standard Test, they were unable to do so due to lack of assistance from the authorities. The learned counsel representing the Union denies these allegations. Clause 12.5.5 of the 2025 examination notification stipulates that an appeal must be filed on the same day as the Physical Standard Test. However, considering the circumstances of the present cases, I am of the view that in the facts of these cases the petitioners ought to be permitted to file an appeal notwithstanding the lapse of the 24-hour period following the Physical Standard Test. In light of the foregoing, all the writ petitions are hereby disposed of with liberty granted to the petitioners to file an 3 appeal before the DIG Group Centre, Durgapur via email at diggcdpr@crpf.gov.in/gcdpr@crpf.gov.in., or before the Inspector General, South Bengal FTR via email at sbftrbsf.nic.in, within 48 hours from the date of this order, as applicable. The concerned authority shall adjudicate the appeal in accordance with the law within three weeks from the date of receipt. Accordingly, WPA 21522 of 2025, WPA 21624 of 2025, WPA 21676 of 2025, WPA 21684 of 2025, WPA 21742 of 2025, WPA 21748 of 2025, and WPA 21763 of 2025 stand disposed of. Urgent certified website copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities. (Kausik Chanda, J.)
