Respondent No.6 – a private person is alleged to have illegally dug the lower part of the hill adjacent to the eastern side of the Court building and the quarters of the Judicial Officers near the Court Complex at Sringeri, District Chikkamagaluru. The District Judge addressed a letter dated 06.06.2020 to the Member Secretary, Karnataka State Legal Services Authority (hereinafter referred to as ‘KSLSA’), complaining against the said respondent regarding his illegal acts and his attempt to encroach upon around 2 guntas of land allotted to the Court building. 2. The 6th respondent was stopped, and in order to protect the building and the official quarters of the Court, the construction of a protection wall was suggested. - 4 - HC-KAR NC: 2025:KHC:48873-DB WP No. 10220 of 2020 3. On the request of the High Court, the State Government has constructed a protection wall around the structure at Sringeri and also filled up the dug-up portion of the hill by incurring an amount of Rs.76,54,693/-. Therefore, the prayer in the writ petition seeking direction to the Deputy Commissioner to take immediate steps to construct a protection wall to safeguard the Civil Court building and the residential quarters of the Judicial Officers at Sringeri no longer survives. 4. We therefore dispose of this writ petition with liberty to respondent No.4 to recover the said amount from respondent No.6, if permissible in accordance with law. 5.
