Mr. Abhirup Chakraborty Mr. Tuhin Ganguly … for the Petitioner (s) Mr. Sougata Mitra Mr. Soumyadip Chakraborty … for the State – respondent(s) The petitioner is aggrieved, as according to him, there were over action on the part of the police authorities for operating a cinema hall, namely, ‘Mitali Cinema’ at Rajipur, P.S. Hasnabad, North 24 Parganas. According to the petitioner, certain police personnel had locked the cinema hall and also took away with them the manager and one staff, namely, Susanta Ghorui and Tarak Nath. State has submitted a report which reflects that one Uttam Ghosh being a local resident and the businessmen of the locality submitted a mass petition on or about 14.05.2025 regarding the activities which were being carried out at the cinema hall by the viewers specially the school going children. Having regard to the same, one G.D. Entry being No. 968 dated 14.05.2025 was recorded as a preventive measure. Be that as it may, the police authorities have no issue regarding the keys being returned and, to that effect, they have already offered keys for operating such cinema hall. In view of the aforesaid, the petitioner and/or Uttam Ghosh, today and/or as and when the business permits, would go to the police station to collect the keys by providing acknowledgement. If the petitioner faces any inconveniences, he would be at liberty mention the matter before this court. With the aforesaid observations, WPA 21718 of 2025 is disposed of. Pending application(s), if any, is also disposed of. Report so submitted be kept with the record. A copy of the report be handed over to the petitioner.
