JUSTICE SACHIN SHANKAR MAGADUM - 4 - HC-KAR NC: 2025:KHC:32763 CRL.P No. 9332 of 2024 C/W CRL.P No. 12143 of 2025 ORAL ORDER These petitions are filed by the husband and in-laws of respondent No.2/complainant seeking quashing of the criminal proceedings initiated against them for the offences punishable under Sections 498A, 504, 506 read with Section 34 of IPC and Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act. 2. Today, joint applications are filed under Section 320 read with Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, accompanied by joint affidavits, wherein respondent No.2/complainant has expressed her desire not to pursue the criminal proceedings any further. Respondent No.2, who is present before this Court, on being specifically queried, submits that she has entered into the compromise of her own free will and without any pressure or coercion. She further states that, in view of the settlement of matrimonial disputes, she has agreed to withdraw the allegations and has no objection to quashing of the proceedings pending in C.C.No.128/2023. 3. Having regard to the fact that the dispute essentially arises out of a matrimonial relationship and that respondent No.2/wife is willing to accord a quietus to the issue, - 5 - HC-KAR NC: 2025:KHC:32763 CRL.P No. 9332 of 2024 C/W CRL.P No. 12143 of 2025 this Court is of the opinion that continuance of the proceedings would serve no fruitful purpose. To secure the ends of justice and to prevent abuse of process, this Court finds it just and proper to accept the compromise. Accordingly, the joint applications are taken on record. 4. In the result, the petitions are allowed. The proceedings in C.C.No.3430/2024 (arising out of Crime No.128/2023 of Mahalakshmipuram Police Station), pending on the file of the XXXII Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Bengaluru, for the offences punishable under Sections 498A, 504, 506 read with Section 34 of IPC and Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, are hereby quashed.
